I'm usually known for complete websites, so it was refreshing getting an isolated project such as this. And it was a bonus working on an NRL project as I'm a big rugby fan. Pity it was for the NSW team though!
Selector applications require heavy user interaction and operation. They have key functional purposes. In this case, knowing which player you're selecting, and where it is, they are to be placed. Because of this, my focus was on usability and experience-ease.
To achieve this, it was essential to communicate to the user when something was placed, picked up, or cancelled. On top of this, there needed to be controls to easily access the user's quick bio, without disrupting their selection process.
I'm really happy with the application build. I just wish it was launched earlier and stuck around somewhere. I guess that's the sad thing about these campaign micro-projects. They have a purpose built life-span.
In the future, I will try to have this pitched with 2 designs. One for it's purpose, then slightly re-skinned as a post-purpose branding mechanism, for social media to fester. This one's post-purpose goal could have been "what team would you have chosen". Simple.
